About me

I've done arty things for ages. From winning the paint-a-plate competition at the Leek Show (under 12s) twice in a row to winning the Gabriel Donald Award twice at the Institute of Medical Illustrators, you can say I've gained national recognition as an artist. You can say that, it might not be true, but hey.

My journey has taken me to some great places. After an incredibly fun year of education at Leek College of Art and Design, I went to study Archaeology and Latin at Durham University (thus beginning my love for the North-East). From there I went to Dundee to do a suuuuper fun Masters in Medical Art (google it, it's great). I then worked for a year and a bit as an artist in the Royal Preston Hospital, making patient education materials and illustrations for the clinical staff before being asked if I fancied a paid PhD making comics for glaucoma patients in Dundee. I got super depressed and wound up dropping out to become a bike mechanic, carer and then electrician. After the company I was working for didn't pay their taxes I decided it was finally time to give art a good crack. So far I'm loving it.

I love my Le Petit Porteur. I've never learnt to drive and this little guy means I don't have to (at 17 I got a Nintendo DS instead of driving lessons). All my market stuff fits comfortably on it. I choose to believe that people turn their heads cos they think it's super cool and not that I'm a bit nuts.

Other stuff I like to make but don't sell

I'm an art slut
